THE OMNI STORY

The Omni story begins on 220 hectares of natural, untouched land on the Fiji island of Viti Levu. A pristine river runs through the property & tropical exotics grow happily alongside organic orange & plum trees. It is here that a young Rohini Sharma-Constance swims daily, basks in the sun, eating fresh mangoes, berries, citrus & bananas picked straight off the trees. Mother nature is a more than generous host.

Rohini parents use natural & Ayurvedic methods to manage the family’s health & ailments. Teeth are brushed with charcoal & a stem from the toothbrush tree. Toothaches are soothed with clove oil & turmeric paste is smeared on rashes.

Sacred basil & fennel seeds aid digestion, & if anyone has a cold coming on, it’s time for a turmeric & ginger drink or dad’s hearty broth with greens! The childhood foundation is laid & Rohini leaves Fiji to further her education in Australia an education that will become increasingly holistic & multidisciplinary.

Pregnant with her first child, Rohini begins to practice yoga, a natural extension of her Brahmin upbringing. This practice later takes her to workshops & seminars throughout India whilst her sons attend boarding school in the Himalayas. Back home in Australia, Rohini is then mentored by a master homeopath, a Native American medicine woman, & further busies herself with studying Australian native plants & herbs.

The major driver for Rohini’s desire for knowledge is her children. Rohini’s middle son was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 12. With frequent trips to hospital, he then developed fibromyalgia. Rohini created her Omni Super Balm as a result “ successfully helping her child to manage his pain. Rohini’s eldest son had severe eczema “ the itching so debilitating that he could barely sleep or function. Omni Super Salve & Super Moisturiser were created to soothe & restore comfort to daily life.

Rohini also began to question the skincare & cosmetics she was using, realising she hadn’t dedicated enough thought to how she was feeding her skin. With her own decline in health, heavy metal testing revealed the unfortunate truth about what she had been applying.

Disappointed in the current skincare & cosmetics offerings, Rohini set out to create personal care products that would heal & not harm. Applying a twist to traditional Ayurveda, Rohini combined her Ayurvedic & yogic knowledge to create products that intrinsically balance, that promote physical, mental
& emotional wellbeing.

THE UMA ROSE STORY

Omni Uma Rose is inspired by Rohini’s beloved aunty Uma Musadilal. (Uma in Hindi means the beautiful Mother Goddess.) The stunningly exotic Uma was well known in Fiji, not just for her beauty but for her high morals & adoring nature. Uma Musadilal lives up to her name today.

An inspiring mentor, the forward-thinking Uma has forged alliances globally. Even when overseas travel was more of a rarity during the 60’s & 70’s, Uma was well versed in global issues, promoting charities & a woman’s value in society. This image of Uma was taken in Fiji in the late 50’s or early 60’s, modelling to raise social & global awareness for the Young Women’s Christian Association.

Uma taught the women of the family to celebrate themselves. Grooming & skincare were important but grounded in self-care & self-respect not vanity. Uma emphasized that true beauty radiates from within reflected by being an ethical, kind & humble human being.

Omni Uma Rose is a beautiful dedication. Rose (gulab in Hindi) is Uma’s favourite scent, & pink her favourite colour, reflected in the packaging. She loves the properties of rose, that it is beneficial for both the young & more mature helpful for skin conditions. Rohini has combined Bulgarian Rose Otto & Rose Absolute with an array of Australian fruit, vegetable & medicinal plant extracts packed with free-radical fighting antioxidants to promote healthy glowing skin.

  • We use ethically sourced dark glass recyclable jars to preserve and maintain the quality of our natural products.
  • Single use plastic packaging is not an option. 
  • Rather than sacrificing the environment for the aesthetic appeal of our products, we have decided not to use individual boxed packaging.
